A motorcyclist was hospitalized after crashing in Markham Thursday evening.

Just before 9 p.m., a 23-year-old Thornhill man was driving a red Honda C600 west on 16th Avenue, west of Kennedy Road when the bike clipped the curb near 16th and Normandale Road, according to York Regional Police.

The motorcycle veered out of control, entered a boulevard on the north side of the road and then went into a ditch, ejecting the man.

He was taken to a Toronto-area hospital and remained in critical condition as of Thursday night, reconstruction unit Const. Paul Diceman said.

By Friday morning, the crash remained under investigation.

If you saw the crash, investigators ask you to contact them by calling 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7703. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave a tip at www.1800222tips.com
