Mayor Linda Jackson’s plan to host the 2010 Actifest–Ontario Senior Games has hit a road block.

Ms Jackson tabled a report Monday recommending a committee be struck to look into what it would entail to host the event.

The estimated cost is roughly $460,000, with $150,000 being offset by a grant available from Health Ministry.

But councillors instead voted to have the report considered by the budget committee first.

“Out of $460,000 we will receive a $150,000 grant. That’s wonderful but we can’t ignore that it’s going to cost us $310,000 because these things have a way of having their own legs,” Regional Councillor Joyce Frustaglio said.
