The holidays are coming and that means spending too much, over-eating and different hours for municipal offices.

York Region is open for regular hours on Christmas Eve but shuts down for the statutory holidays on Dec. 25 and Dec. 26. Because New Years falls on a Thursday, the region remains closed on Fri., Jan. 2.

Every local municipality except for Markham, East Gwillimbury and Newmarket follows the region’s lead, staying closed that day.

All local municipalities shut their offices at noon on Dec. 24, except for King which is closed all day.

Everyone is shut down on Christmas and Boxing Day but only Newmarket, the regional offices and East Gwillimbury are open for the days between Boxing Day and New Years.

East Gwillimbury closes its doors at noon on New Year’s Eve.

The Town of Richmond Hill still needs to approve its schedule.

Business returns to normal everywhere on Jan. 5.
